IDPH Reports 8,922 New Coronavirus Cases with 140 Additional Deaths; Region 10 Test Positivity 7-Day Rolling Average Increases to 16%

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 reported 8,922 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 140 additional deaths. Eleven deaths in Cook County involved people under 60 years-old. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from November 11 – November 17, 2020 is 14.2%, according to the IDPH.

According to the IDPH, Region 10 (suburban Cook County) reported 10 days of test positivity increases with the latest Test Positivity 7-Day Rolling Average report at 16%. The latest Daily Test Positivity rated was report at 15.8%. Region 10 reported 11 consecutive days of 12.1% or greater. IDPH reported 9 days of Hospital Admission Increases.

The Medical Surgical Bed Availability was reported above the threshold of 20% at 24%.

ICU Bed Availability with a threshold of 20% was reported at 28%.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 606,771 cases, including 11,014 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 103,569 specimens for a total 9,359,227. As of last night, 5,953 in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 1,146 patients were in the ICU and 547 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from November 11 – November 17, 2020 is 11.9%. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from November 11 – November 17, 2020 is 14.2%.
