Round Lake Beach Police and firefighter and paramedics from Greater Round Lake Beach Fire Protection District responded about 5:59 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2020 to a report of a head-on crash involving a pickup truck and a sedan in the 1400 block of Cedar Lake Road near Golfview Road in Round Lake Beach.
The first fire crew on arrival reported two vehicles with heavy damage and a third vehicle possibly involved north of the main crash scene. Initially it was unknown whether there was entrapment and extrication at this crash scene.
Four occupants were involved with at least one victim with possible life-threatening injuries. The head-on crash was located a short distance south of Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District Station #2.
Cedar Lake Road was closed in both directions between Rollins Road and Highland Terrace or Hawthorne Drive during crash rescue and an extended crash investigation by police. The crash scene was cleared at about 10:30 a.m.
The crash occurred in the dark near a stretch of road (Cedar Lake Road) where there is a very slight crest of a hill. The Speed Limit is 30 MPH according to a Google Street View image captured on October 2019.
