Starting about 4:19 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2020, a pattern of widespread failure of Twitter by Twitter users was reported. Users from California, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, North Dakota, Toronto, Poland and other areas around the world reported that Twitter was not working.
The Downdetector Outage Map for Twitter shows outages in the United States, Brazil, Japan, United Kingdom and other countries in Europe.
Embeds and timelines were not working. Initially a Twitter statement reported there wasn’t any evidence of a security breach or hack.
Twitter’s last major outages were in February 2020.
Yesterday White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany was locked out of her personal Twitter account for sharing the New York Post’s article on Hunter Biden’s laptop data. Twitter also prevented sharing of an article by the New York Post that claimed Hunter Biden’s laptop was left at a computer repair shop, and that Presidential candidate Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden never paid for the service and never retrieved the MacBook Pro or the hard drive on which its contents were stored. According to the Delaware shop owner, who said he tried repeatedly to contact the client, there was incriminating evidence on a laptop.
According to emails obtained by the New York Post, Hunter Biden introduced his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, to a top executive at a Ukrainian energy firm less than a year before then Vice President Joe Biden pressured government officials in Ukraine into firing a prosecutor who was investigating the company. Joe Biden is on record saying he’s never spoken to his son Hunter Biden about his overseas business dealings.
A senate judicial subcommittee may decide to issue a subpoena to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey within a week.

As of 6:06 p.m. ET Thursday, October 15, 2020 Twitter did not Tweet about the outage (@Twitter); however, @TwitterSupport mentioned the outage.
