City of Chicago Daily Test Positivity Rate Increase from 6.9% to 7.9%

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) on Saturday, October 24, 2020 reported 6,161 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 63 additional deaths.

The suburban Cook County Region 10 Test Positivity 7-Day Rolling Average increased from 7.3% to 7.5%, October 20-21, 2020. However the daily test positivity rate decreased from 8.1% to 7.9%, October 20-21, 2020.

The City of Chicago Region 10 Test Positivity 7-Day Rolling Average increased from 7.0% to 7.3%, October 20-21, 2020.
The daily test positivity rate increased from 6.9% to 7.9%, October 20-21, 2020.

DuPage-Kane Region 8, which has mitigation in effect, Test Positivity 7-Day Rolling Average decreased from 9.4% to 9.3%.

DuPage County Test Positivity 7-Day Rolling Average maintained a level of 8.1%.

Kane County Test Positivity 7-Day Rolling Average decreased from 11.9% to 11.7%.

Will-Kankakee Region 7, which has mitigation in effect, Test Positivity 7-Day Rolling Average increased from 9.2% to 9.3%.

Will County Test Positivity 7-Day Rolling Average increased from 9.5% to 9.7%.

Kankakee County Test Positivity 7-Day Rolling Average increased from 7.8% to 7.9%.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 370,194 cases, including 9,481 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from October 17 – October 23 is 6.1%. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 83,517 specimens for a total of 7,196,855. As of last night, 2,616 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 560 patients were in the ICU and 222 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
