Truck, Car Crash with Fire Injures Woman and Child on Route 47 North of Ware Rd in Unincorporated Woodstock

Woodstock Police, McHenry County Sheriff’s deputies and firefighter/paramedics from Woodstock responded about 8:45 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2020 to a report of a crash with entrapment and a truck fire on Route 47 about one-quarter mile north of Ware Road in Woodstock.

Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived to find that a truck and passenger vehicle crashed on a curve between Ware Road and Cooney Road in an unincorporated area just north of the Woodstock city limits.

Firefighter/paramedics worked with extrication tools to free a woman from her crashed vehicle. She was flown by medical transport helicopter to a hospital in Rockford, suffering life-threatening injuries.

A fire involving a semi-trailer truck was extinguished by Woodstock firefighters.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. The Speed Limit in the area is 45 MPH, but is lowered to 35 MPH south of the scene within the city limits in Woodstock. Route 47 near the crash scene includes some minor curves and minor hill crests under the roadway. The Speed Limit on Route 47 north of Charles Road (about one mile north of the crash scene) is 55 MPH.
