Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and firefighter/paramedics from Libertyville responded about 4:45 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2020 to a serious crash with injuries at Route 137 and Interstate 94 in Green Oaks.

Lake County Sheriff’s deputies upon arrival discovered two cars and one motorcycle were involved in the crash.

A 74-year-old female passenger from Fox Lake, sitting in the front seat of a Chevrolet Sonic suffered major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet Sonic was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries. The driver of a Ford Five Hundred was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious injuries. The driver of a Harley-Davidson was treated and released at the scene with injuries that initially appeared to be minor injuries.

Preliminary investigation shows the 2019 Chevrolet Sonic, driven by a 76-year-old male of Fox Lake, was traveling eastbound on Route 137. The driver of the Chevrolet attempted a U-turn or attempted to turn left onto I-94.

A 2007 Ford Five Hundred, driven by a 63-year-old female of Libertyville, was traveling westbound on Route 137 at the same location. The front of the Ford struck the passenger side of the Chevrolet. The 2013 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle, driven by a 32-year-old male of Wauconda was directly behind the Ford. To avoid an impact with a vehicle, the motorcycle operator dropped his motorcycle and slid on the ground.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and is in the process of scheduling an autopsy.

The crash investigation is continuing following the on-scene investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
