Adult Hit, Trapped Under Vehicle Near McDonald’s on Oakton Street Near Times Drive, Des Plaines

Police and firefighter/paramedics from Des Plaines responded about 8:08 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2020 to a report of a child pedestrian hit by a vehicle at or near McDonald’s, 1101 East Oakton Street in Des Plaines. The victim was trapped under the vehicle.

UPDATE: The victim was actually a 22 year-old man. He was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Firefighters used a heavy lift jack to lift the vehicle, and firefighter/paramedics safely removed the child from under the vehicle by 8:14 p.m. The victim was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran Hospital.

Oakton Street is closed between Webster Lane and Mannheim Road, apparently for a crash investigation. The crash occurred in the east lanes of Oakton Street in the curb lane. A witness to the investigation road markings reported the investigation markings were located near the eastbound curb lane from the exit of the McDonald’s to the entrance of the old K-Mart’s/Taco Bell … continuing to the next main entrance to the main K mart parking lot.




The victim was possibly struck by a white Audi with hood and front-end damage to the vehicle, which was at the scene. The incident was not reported as a hit-and-run.
