Police said a preliminary investigation with review of security video from the hotel indicated the boy was lying perpendicular across a sofa table directly behind a sofa in an open area where other children at the wedding reception were sitting.
As the children were getting up and leaving the area, the boy began to slide off the sofa table, which consisted of a granite top. The boy held the edge with his fingers to slow his descent as he slid backwards, but as he got off the table, the table fell and struck the boy’s head.
On Thursday, September 10, 2020 DuPage County Coroner Dr. Richard Jorgensen released the identity of the boy as Luca Berlingerio of Glenview.
