Man Hit, Killed Crossing Lake Shore Drive Near Montrose Beach, Chicago

Police and firefighter/paramedics from Chicago responded about 1:00 a.m. Friday August 21, 2020 to a report that a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in the block of 4800 North Lake Shore Drive near Lawrence Avenue and the lakefront.

Police and paramedics discovered on arrival that a man was hit by a Toyota Corolla that was northbound on Lake Shore Drive. The driver of Toyota Corolla stopped at the scene. The pedestrian was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Chicago police reported that a 32-year-old man was attempting to run across Lake Shore Drive toward Montrose Beach when he was hit.

The CPD Major Accidents unit and Area Three detectives investigated the scene overnight and are continuing the investigation. Police reported no charges or citations are expected against the male driver of the Toyota Corolla.
