Lombard Police Investigating Home Invasion on South Highland Ave Where Suspect’s Gun Discharged and Struck a Resident

Lombard police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:40 a.m. Sunday, August 23, 2020 to a report of home invasion occurred in the block of 400 South Highland Avenue. The suspects entered the home, demanded property, and threatened a young female resident. A member of the household confronted one of the suspects who was armed. A struggle ensued and the suspect’s gun was discharged, striking the resident. The suspects then fled the scene.

Initially the resident with the gunshot wound is in stable condition, with injuries initially described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspects are described as three black males in their late teens or possibly early 20’s wearing hooded sweatshirts (one red, one gray, and one blue) and driving a gray or dark colored sedan.

Shortly before these crimes occurred, a similar home-invasion crime was reported in Wheaton. Lombard Police are working closely with Wheaton Police Department and the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine whether the two crimes are related.

Lombard Police are asking anyone with information and neighboring residents with any home video surveillance to share call the Lombard Police Department at 630-873-4400.

Residents are reminded to always dial 9-1-1 if they encounter suspicious activity.
