Fatal Single-Vehicle Motorcycle Crash on Hunt Club Rd Near Millburn Rd, Old Mill Creek

Lake County Sheriff’s deputies and firefighter/paramedics from Newport Township Fire Protection District responded about 8:05 p.m. Saturday August 22, 2020 to a report of a single-vehicle crash with injuries involving a motorcycle at Hunt Club Road south of Millburn Road, Old Mill Creek. Lake County Sheriff’s deputies on arrival found a 2014 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle west of the roadway with an unresponsive driver. The motorcycle driver sustained significant injuries when he was ejected off the motorcycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and an autopsy has been scheduled for August 25, 2020.

Preliminary investigation shows the Harley-Davidson, driven by a 63-year-old male of Gurnee, was traveling southbound on Hunt Club Road just south of Millburn Road. For an unknown reason, the driver left the roadway and was ejected from his motorcycle.




The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.

There are two curves on Hunt Club Road just south of Millburn Road. The Speed Limit on Hunt Club Road is 45 MPH. Hunt Club Road is a two-lane rural highway with a double yellow line separating each lane. Hunt Club Road, Millburn Road and Simpson Road is a roundabout intersection.

The Hunt Club Road and Millburn Road Rounabout built in 2011 is one of six roundabout intersections in Lake County.
