Boat Fire at Burnham Harbor Near Linn White Drive, Chicago — Just West of Soldier Field

Police and firefighter/paramedics from Chicago responded about 3:8 p.m. Saturday August 8, 2020 to a report of a boat fire in the block of 1500 Linn White Drive at Burnham Harbor. Aerial Tower 1’s crew on arrival reported a boat fully-involved with fire. The boat was located near boat launch by the master’s office off of Linn White Drive.

The fire was reported “knocked a little bit” by the deck gun from Engine 13’s crew by 3:23 p.m. Engine 1 (fire boat) was also leading out a line.

Three individuals were on the boat, and one person was injured. One patient was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

A 33-34 foot boat was in the slip connected to a trailer and white pickup truck. Firefighters were able to pull the boat to land. Salvage and overhaul was underway by about 3:30 p.m.

The fire was declared out by 3:51 p.m.
