Developing thunderstorms and regenerating thunderstorm cells are expected to continue to move southeast, crossing the state line about 7:00 p.m. Sunday July 26, 2020. The storms are expected to bring strong to severe wind gusts mainly north of Interstate 88. Localized flash flooding is possible with 1-2″ per hour or higher rain rates are possible.
The storms are developing ahead of a surface cold front pushing northwest to southeast. The storms are expected to pass through McHenry County and most of Lake County, Illinois from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Arlington Heights and nearby northwest suburbs will probably be affected by these storms between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely before midnight, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between midnight and 1am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. West southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
