Fatal Motorcycle Crash at Route 176 West of Dean Street in Unincorporated Woodstock

McHenry County Sheriff’s Office deputies and firefighter/paramedics from Woodstock Fire Rescue District responded about 10:42 a.m. Saturday July 11, 2020 to a report of a vehicle crash with a motorcycle on Route 176 west of Dean Street in unincorporated Woodstock.

McHenry County Sheriff’s deputies and Woodstock firefighter/paramedics arrived to find a male motorcyclist with life-threatening injuries following a crash involving at Toyota Corolla and a 2018 Harley-Davidson. The driver of the Toyota Corolla, a 31-year-old woman from Lisle, did not initially report any injuries.

The motorcyclist, a 69 year-old man from Genoa, was not wearing a helmet, and was transported to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

An on scene investigation indicated that the driver of the Toyota Corolla was pulling off to the north side of the roadway to turn around. According to the sheriff’s office, the Harley Davidson drove to the north of the Toyota for unknown reasons, and struck the rear passenger side of the Toyota, causing the rider to be ejected from the motorcycle.

The road in the area of the crash was closed for an extended period for an on-scene crash investigation. The investigation of the crash on-scene and following the on-scene investigation is being continued by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit.
