Police and firefighter/paramedics from Buffalo Grove responded about 9:27 a.m. Friday July 17, 2020 to a report of a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian at Arlington Heights Road and Lake Cook Road in Buffalo Grove.

Firefighter/paramedics were updated that a woman was found trapped under her own vehicle. Buffalo Grove Fire Department Ambulance 25’s crew confirmed that a woman was trapped, and the emergency call was upgraded to an Entrapment Rescue Response, which bring extra equipment and personnel for extrication operation and a stand-by paramedic crew in case of injury during the work at the scene.

The woman was treated for pain by paramedics while she was still trapped, and while the extrication was underway. Extrication was completed within 10 or 11 minutes. Firefighters used cribbing to stabilize her vehicle while the vehicle was lifted with rescue airbags. The woman was reported to have been possibly trapped for about 15 minutes in the heat before she was discovered under her car. Air Temperature was 81°F and the Heat Index was 84°F at 9:51 a.m. Friday, according to the NWS Office at O’Hare International Airport.

The woman was transported Advanced Life Support to Northwest Community Hospital, and her injuries were initially believed to be non-life-threatening.
