Identity Released for Man Killed in SUV Crash with a Tree on St James Street Near Meadow Drive in Rolling Meadows

Fatal crash on St. James east of Meadow Drive in Rolling Meadows Sunday morning June 14, 2020.

A 22-year-old Rolling Meadows man driving with a young adult male passenger was killed Sunday about 6:30 a.m. Sunday June 14, 2020 when the Jeep Commander SUV he was driving crashed into a tree in a residential neighborhood in the block of 2300 St. James Street, just south of the Cook County Circuit Court building.

The driver of the 2008 black Jeep Commander was identified as Christian J. Flood. Firefighters extricated the Christian J. Flood from the vehicle by 6:46 a.m. He was treated by Rolling Meadows Fire Department firefighter/paramedics with Advanced Life Support, and transported to Northwest Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:15 a.m.

The male passenger, who was also a resident of Rolling Meadows, was walking at the scene and suffered minor injuries.

Rolling Meadows police officers were first on the scene, and found the driver unresponsive with the driver door jammed shut.

Rolling Meadows Police Department requested the Major Crimes Assistance Team’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (MCAT-STAR) unit for a complete accident investigation. The MCAT-STAR unit was on the scene Sunday morning and afternoon, and is continuing with the investigation.

Visitation for Christian J. Flood is 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday June 19, 2020 at Lauterburg – Oehler Funderal Home, 2000 East Northwest Highway in Arlington Heights.
