Sebastian Maniscalco offers a briefing on his experiences at the gym, and it might help people get mentally prepared for exercising alongside people of the pandemic re-opening crowd at the gym.

Maybe you’ve longed for your missed workout the gym. Maybe you’ve enjoyed the solitude of home workouts and peaceful jogs on the street at dawn. But a new phase of personal fitness and wellness is about to begin — permission to work out at the local gym. What’s it going to be like to like to workout immersed back with the quirks of individuals in the gym while following new safety protocols? Sebastian Maniscalo’s video will refresh your memory.

Arlington Ridge Center and Xsport Fitness centers haven’t re-opened yet, but information about the new world of re-opened gyms and fitness centers is starting to be revealed by fitness center management.

Xsport Fitness reports they have created a new cleaning protocol to ensure “as clean and safe an environment as possible at XSport!” Xsport Fitness has partnered with Ultimate Building Solutions, a nationwide cleaning provider, to deep clean and maintain our facilities.

Xsport Temporarily Reduced Hours
Xsport Fitness is temporarily reducing club hours to ensure the club is completely sanitized every evening. New club hours will be as follows upon gym openings:

Monday – Thursday: 6am – 9pm
Friday: 6am – 8pm
Saturday & Sunday: 7am – 6pm

Additionally, Xsport will not be open 24 hours and will be performing nightly club disinfectant spraying to ensure all surfaces are sanitized. Xsport states that daily cleaning will ensure that the Xsport team thoroughly disinfects all surfaces multiple times each day.

In addition, Xsport will provide members with more cleaning stations to sanitize equipment before and after use, as well as convenient access to hand sanitizer throughout the club.

The check-in process will be a little different. Facial coverings are recommended for all members (required in the city of Chicago) and required for staff to enter the gym.

Xsport members will now wait in line at social distancing spots both inside and outside of the club.

The actual check-in process is completely contactless. As a member, you will scan your key tag yourself at the front desk.

Xsport will also be limiting the number of members in the gym at any one time, per the restrictions of the local municipalities. As the gyms are commonly very busy between 5pm and 8pm, Monday through Thursday, Xsport recommends considering alternative workout times for expedited check-in and equipment availability.

As of Thursday, June 25, 2020, Xsport, which has temporarily been closed since Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. has not announced any specific re-opening dates.

The Arlington Heights Park District has announced an opening date, but has not yet provided much details about cleaning protocols or social distancing procedures at the Arlington Ridge Center. The fitness center is new and clean, and already has touchless check-in, but details pale in comparison to Xsport Fitness details. Xsport even has a web page dedicated to re-opening — www.xsportfitness.com/reopen

According to the Arlington Heights Park District, Arlington Ridge Center (ARC) – ARC will open for fitness center use, inside land exercise class, and indoor pickleball, on July 6, 2020. There are group size limits for each. A special All-In Pass will be available for purchase. All current ARC memberships will remain frozen as the park district recognizes that not all members will want to return right away. Indoor swimming at the ARC will be re-evaluated when further guidance becomes available from the IDPH. The park district stated that new details will shared with the community through its social media channels and at www.ahpd.org/arc/ on the Internet.
