Suspected DUI Crash, Driver Fled Scene at Golf Rd East of Algonquin Rd, Arlington Heights

Alleged DUI driver crashes on Golf Rd east of Algonquin Rd in Arlington Heights and leaves the scene.

Police from Arlington Heights responded about 4:28 p.m. Thursday May 14, 2020 to a report of a vehicle vs tree crash on Golf Road east of Algonquin Road. Rolling Meadows police also assisted Arlington Heights police officers.

Firefighter/paramedics were dispatched about 5:31 p.m. at the request of police to assess the driver in the crash. Police reported a single vehicle crash. The driver of a silver Ford Econoline passenger van hit a utility pole with a glancing blow, and then hit a tree in the parkway of the eastbound lanes of Golf Road.

Allegedly, the driver fled the scene on foot after the crash. He was arrested a short time later near the Tesla chargers in the parking lot of the Meijer store, 1301 Meijer Drive in Rolling Meadows — about 100 yards southwest of the crash scene.

Police conducted a Field Sobriety Test and arrested the driver immediately after the Field Sobriety Test at about 5:05 p.m. Police identified the driver as Servando Salazar Peralta, age 55, of Birch Lane in Rolling Meadows.
