Protests in Minneapolis following the death of a police-restrained George Floyd on May 25, 2020 on Chicago Avenue near 38th Street progressed into a rage of arson, criminal damage, and looting Wednesday night, May 27, 2020. The crimes against business properties occurred at an Auto Zone, Cub Foods, Target, Hi Lake Liquors, an Apple store, an affordable housing complex under construction, and a factory.

Allegedly, one person was shot and killed while looting a pawn shop.

The scene of the protests centered near Lake Street and Minnehaha Avenue was about 3 miles northeast of the scene of the police-involved killing on Chicago Avenue near 38th Street.

Protests in Minneapolis for the second straight day following the death of George Floyd. Four Minneapolis police officers were fired in connection with the death, according to Mayor Jacob Frey. In a video taken by a community journalist, Floyd can be heard saying “I can’t breathe” as an officer held his knee on Floyd’s neck (NBC/KARE11).
