Firefighters, Police Officers and Public Works Employees Honor, Show Support for Nurses and Healthcare Workers at Northwest Community Hospital

National Nurses Week Appreciation parade by First Responders at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Monday May 11, 2020.

Nurses and healthcare workers were honored by first responders with a parade Monday May 11, 2020 at about 3:30 p.m. during shift change at Northwest Community Hospital, 800 West Central Road in Arlington Heights.

Firefighters from Rolling Meadows organized a parade and support rally around the hospital. Firefighters from Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect and police officers and public works employees from Rolling Meadows also joined the group.

Firefighters and police officers held banners with the messages, “We Support Nurses” and “Happy Nurses Week” and “We Support You” and “Thank You Nurses” and “RMFD Loves Our Hero Nurses.”

Firefighters, police officers, and public works employees got out of the vehicles just north of the ambulance bay to show support with the banners. Then they all got in their vehicles and took one trip around the hospital with sirens activated.

The event at Northwest Community Hospital was aligned with National Nurses Week, which begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday.
