Lake Forest Hospital, Advocate Condell Medical Center, Vista Medical Center in Lake County Reach ICU Capacity — Fluctuating Situation

#ad▼

On Wednesday April 8, 2020, three Lake County hospitals (Lake Forest Hospital, Advocate Condell Medical Center, and Vista Medical Center) reported to the Lake County Health Department that they reached their capacity in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) while caring for seriously ill Coronavirus COVID-19 patients. The three hospitals reporting to the Lake County Health Department also reported that they DO have enough ventilators to care for their current patients. The status of the hospitals can change hour-by-hour.

Some Lake County hospitals were abnormally quiet a few weeks ago as people avoided hospitals and deferred elective treatment and procedures. The three Lake County hospitals at ICU capacity are the first known to reach capacity in Illinois during the Coronavirus pandemic.

“Right now the administrators are not requesting the health department stand-up an external facility for patients; but that is something the health department looks at every single day, looking at locations, looking at possibilities should that need arise, we want to be their to supply that demand.”
