Dr. Janette Nesheiwat: Words of Dr. Fauci Twisted by that Other Network — a Look at CNN’s Jake Tapper Interview with Dr. Anthony Fauci

President Trump retweets a post calling for Dr. Anthony Fauci’s firing after the coronavirus task force member’s remarks on earlier mitigation; reaction and analysis on ‘Outnumbered.’

Fox News contributor Guy Benson says that a full CNN interview with Jake Tapper and Dr. Anthony Fauci shows that Dr. Fauci was actually defending the president, because the pandemic response is not that simple.

But some are stoked for drama by this Trump retweet of a tweet from Congressional Candidate DeAnna Lorraine, who is oppsing Nancy Pelosi. There is apparently no move toward firing Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Fox News contributor Guy Benson says what is bothersome is the degree to which some in the media seem very invested in this palace intrigue plot line, where they sort of stoke every ember — almost like they’re trying to goad the president into doing something that would be very bad for the country but could be bad for him politically. So they love expressing concerns about how this might happen. It almost feels like a perverse rooting interest.

Fox Medical Contributor Dr. Janette Nesheiwat explained that she has high respect for Dr. Fauci, who she said he chooses the interests of patients over politics. She said she watched the entire interview on “that network”, they twisted his words. He didn’t absolutely say, ‘yes we should have shut down at a specific time.’

At the White House Coronavirus Task Force Monday April 13, 2020, Dr. Fauci clairified “pushback” was the wrong choice of word from Trump’s reaction when Fauci first recommended closing up shop for an extended period of time. Dr. Anthony clarified that Trump only raised concerns about ramifications of such action — such as crippling the economy, job loss, etc. Facuci said nobody in Trump’s administration opposed Faucis recommendation.

When a female reporter asked Dr. Fauci if he was making these clarifications voluntarily, he looked a little miffed … telling her, “Everything I do is voluntarily. Please, don’t even imply that.” [@6:51 in CBS video below]
