Man Critically Injured in Single Vehicle Van Crash with a Tree and Utility Pole at Green Bay Road and Keith Ave, Waukegan Township

Lake County Sheriff’s deputies and firefighter/paramedics from Waukegan responded about 12:50 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2020, to a single vehicle crash with injuries on Green Bay Road at Keith Avenue, Waukegan Township.

When the first Lake County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene, the man was lying partially outside of the Ford. Initially it was unknown if he was partially ejected in the crash or crawled out of the wreckage.

The man was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries.

Preliminary investigation shows a 2006 Ford Econoline was traveling northbound on Green Bay Road, approaching
Keith Avenue. For an unknown reason the driver of the Ford, a 52-year-old male of Kenosha, Wisconsin, crossed into the
southbound lanes of traffic, struck the curb, a tree, and a utility pole. The Ford rolled onto its side before coming to a
final rest.

Green Bay Road remained closed between John Mansville Avenue and Sherman Avenue at 5:00 p.m. The crash is under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit. The Speed Limit on Green Bay Road near the crash scene is 45 MPH according to Google Maps traffic layer.
