Illinois State Police and firefighter/paramedics from Schaumburg responded about 7:25 p.m. December 18, 2019 to a report of a serious crash on Route 53 near Woodfield Road near Schaumburg.
Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that the driver of a Jeep veered off the embankment on the northbound side of Route 53 then returned to the expressway and launched over the center barrier into the southbound lanes of Route 53. At least one 911 caller reported several vehicles were hit on the southbound lanes, but the first fire crew on the scene reported two vehicles involved in a crash on Route 53 above Woodfield Road.
Southbound Traffic was backed up to Algonquin Road at 7:53 p.m.
Schaumburg firefighters also discovered a crash at Plum Grove Road and Schaumburg Road while en route to the crash on Route 53.
