Police and firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 10:21 a.m. to a report of a furnace fire in a house in the block of 4100 North Terramere Avenue.
Firefighters reported nothing showing from the exterior upon arrival, but reported smoke on the first floor. Firefighters discovered there was a furnace fire, and the fire was extinguished prior to their arrival.
Extra fire crews were returned by 10:29 a.m., and the first due crews immediately went to work to ventilate the house, clearing smoke from the first floor and basement.
Firefighters from Buffalo Grove and Long Grove responded mutual aid to assist Arlington Heights firefighters.
