According to the official Woodfield Mall website, the mall will be open on Thanksgiving Day from 5 p.m. to midnight, interrupting the schedule of recent years that continued all-night shopping from Thursday night, overnight, and throughout Black Friday. This year the mall will open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday, and remain open until 9 p.m., according to a list of store hours.
Thanksgiving is closer to Christmas this year, falling on Thursday November 28, 2019. Black Friday — on November 29, 2019 — is 26 days before Christmas.
The new schedule discontinues the practice in recent years of staying open all night from Thanksgiving night to Black Friday. Simon Property Group’s Gurnee Mills will open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving and will close at midnight Thursday/Friday, then re-open at 7 a.m. on Black Friday.
Simon Property Group’s Chicago Premium Outlets in Aurora will remain open all night after opening at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving and remaining open throughout Black Friday until 10 p.m.
