Rosemont police officers and firefighter/paramedics in the public safety department responded about 1:33 p.m. Saturday November 16, 2019 to a 911 call from a husband reporting that his wife was unresponsive in a hotel room at the Hilton Hotel, 5550 River Road in Rosemont.

Upon arrival police and firefighter/paramedics discovered an unresponsive 49-year-old McHenry woman and items that were suspected to be narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Rosemont firefighter/paramedics transported the couple to Resurrection Hospital in Chicago, where the woman was pronounced dead at 2:35 p.m.

The husband admitted to using heroin and crack in Chicago before arriving at the hotel and taking more narcotics there, according to Rosemont Public Safety Department police. The husband, whose identity was not initially released, is in custody pending further investigation, police said.

Rosemont police detectives obtained a search warrant for the hotel room, and were also seeking a search warrant for the couple’s vehicle. The Cook County medical examiner’s office is awaiting toxicology reports and did not initially rule on the cause of death.

Police investigators do not suspect anyone else was inside the hotel room with the couple and are attempting to determine the specific narcotics used and where drugs were purchased.
