Shopping Center Driveway Crash on South Arlington Heights Road Near Golf Road, Arlington Heights.
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:56 p.m. Friday November 15, 2019 to a report of a crash at Arlington Heights Road and Golf Road. Police and firefighter/paramedics on arrival discovered a crash involving two vehicles with moderate damage in the middle of Arlington Heights Road north of Golf Road, and one person unable to get out of their vehicle.
The response was escalated to an extrication response at 7:02 p.m. Firefighters used a spreaders tool (“Jaws of Life”) — apparently to open a door that was jammed. A second ambulance was dispatched about 7:03 p.m. Two people were transported to Northwest Community Hospital by Arlington Heights Fire Department firefighter/paramedics.
One driver was exiting the Jewel-Osco parking lot on the west side of Arlington Heights Road when there was a crash with a driver traveling on Arlington Heights Road. The crash involved a dark Ford Crown Victoria and a black Honda Pilot. Because of heavy traffic flow, the driveway can be difficult for drivers to exit when attempting to travel northbound on Arlington Heights Road. Drivers often drive to the median space when southbound traffic clears, and then wait for northbound traffic flow to clear before proceeding.
Traffic on southbound Arlington Heights Road was diverted into the Jewel-Osco lot driveway and parking lot, while several Arlington Heights police and firefighters managed the scene.
Arlington Heights police are investigating the crash scene, which is a relatively poorly illuminated area.
