Beginning Monday September 9, 2019 and weeks following, the Village of Arlington Heights will present a soft roll out of a mobile parking payment app, known as Passport Parking, which can be used for parking payments of Daily Fee spaces instead of paying cash at the pay boxes located in the Downtown’s parking lots or garages.

Patrons parking in daily fee spaces in Village surface lots or garages that feature Passport Parking signs – or decals placed on the payment boxes – can begin paying parking fees via an app instead of using cash. If patrons choose, they can still pay by cash as well.

Using the Passport Parking app provides a great convenience for residents, commuters and visitors who use more than 900 daily fee parking spaces in the downtown. The app is simple to use: download the app, create an account, choose the parking zone you are located in (denoted on the Passport Parking signage) and enter your parking space number to start your parking session.

Depending on weather conditions, it may take a week or longer to post all of the Passport Parking signs throughout the Village’s surface lots and the garages. The app is only to be used for daily fee parking. Users can also manage their parking online through Passport Parking.

Zone numbers of Village surface Lots and garages that will be part of the Passport Payment app program include:

Lot S- 6030
Lot A- 6031
Lot E- 6032
Lot T (Arlington Park Train Station) – 6033
Lot M 2nd Ramp (Municipal Garage) – 6034
Lot M 3rd Ramp (Municipal Garage) – 6035
Lot O- 6036
Lot G (North Garage) – 6037
Lot D (Vail Garage) – 6038

The convenient Passport app is used in Chicago for thousands of on-street parking spaces, as well as in neighboring communities along the Metra NorthWest line. The app is also used in the following area municipalities, including Buffalo Grove, Des Plaines, Palatine, Wheeling, Downers Grove, Glenview, Skokie, Evanston and more.

The Passport Parking app is free to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Passport provides a cloud-based parking app for customers or patrons that use pay parking facilities in parking garages, streets or surface lots. The app involves creating, registering and verifying an account. The app helps patrons find their parking zone, pay for their parking zone, and manage their account (receiving alerts, extending your parking session if available, and managing receipts, etc.).

See how the Passport Parking app makes paying for parking faster and more convenient, according to Passport Inc.

Besides aiming to provide convenient methods and features for parking patrons to manage their parking needs with an app, Passport provides an enterprise software platform for cities, transit agencies, universities, and private operators in the parking and transportation industries throughout the US and Canada. Enterprise actions related to parking include management parking fees, permits and records; real-time enforcement and record-keeping. Passport also provides software management for transit, tolling, and real-time data and management reporting tools for planning and decision-making.

Passport’s primary apps include mobile payments for parking and mobile ticketing for transit operations. Passport’s software allows municipalities and private operators to charge users and provide payment opportunities for parking without hardware payment stations.

Passports offices are located in Charlotte, North Carolina, serving worldwide nearly 1,000 clients (local governments, universities, transit companies, etc.), according to their official website on September 9, 2019.
