Motorcycle crash with BMW sedan injures female motorcyclist on McHenry Road just north of Lake Cook Road in Buffalo Grove.

Buffalo Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:20 p.m. Sunday, September 1, 2019 to a report of a serious crash involving a motorcycle and a sedan. Police and firefighter/paramedics on arrival discovered the crash at the intersection of McHenry Road between the shopping center driveways near Burger King and Jewel-Osco — controlled by traffic signals.

A woman, who was riding alone, was down on the street was described as conscious, but not moving. She was transported with serious injuries to a Level I Trauma Center — either Advocate Condell Medical Center or Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. As of Tuesday afternoon, September 3, 2019, the woman was continuing her stay at the hospital.

The driver of the BMW was traveling with one passenger. Neither occupants of the BMW initially reported injuries from the crash.

An initial investigation determined that a 61-year-old female from Mount Prospect was riding a Honda CTX700 motorcycle when it crashed into a 2013 BMW driven by a 30-year-old male from Wheeling.

Observing the scene, it appeared that the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on McHenry Road, and the driver of the BMW was traveling northbound on McHenry Road and possibly turned in front of the motorcycle to travel westbound on the driveway between Boston Market and Burger King. The Speed Limit on McHenry Road, according to Google Maps traffic layer is 45 MPH.

As of Tuesday September 3, 2019, citations had not been issued since the crash was still under investigation, according to Buffalo Grove Police Department. The intersection remained closed until about 11:00 p.m. Sunday.
