Chicago Police Issue Warning After Seven Violent Robbery Attacks Near River North Neighborhood

A robbery early Monday morning is the seventh violent attack and robbery in Chicago’s River North neighborhood since August 25 (CBS Chicago/Mugo Odigwe).

Chicago police are investigating seven robberies that have occurred since August 25, 2019 on Chicago’s near north side and River North neighborhood. The robberies have occurred near LaSalle Boulevard south of Division Street and north of the Chicago River (Wacker Drive). In each case, 3-5 male offenders in their 20s would approach victims and threaten or attack them before robbing them.

The latest robbery was reported early this morning, just after midnight Monday, September 30, 2019 near Miller’s Pub, 134 South Wabash Avenue, which was several blocks south of the other robberies. A 27 years-old male reported he was walking when someone grabbed his phone and pushed him to the ground. Wabash Avenue is two blocks west of Michigan Avenue and about three blocks south of Millennium Park.

Also, at least seven reported auto thefts have occurred near River North and Lincoln Park when vehicle owners left their vehicles with the engines running and the keys in the ignition.
