The overnight low was about 81°F and enough to start a good base for a very hot day. However, dew points in the mid-70s may hold back some of the extreme heat. Air temperature highs in the upper 90s are less likely when dew points reach the upper 70s and 80s. Instead of reaching 98°F to 100°F for the Friday high, we are likely to see a high of 95°F from about 4PM to 5PM. The high dew points (high humidity) are still an important factor in high heat indices, which are expected to reach 110°F about 4-5 PM Friday. Gusty winds of 24 MPH from the southwest will help reduce the stifling factor.
