Pavement Buckling and Repair on Northwest Highway Disrupts Traffic Near Baldwin Rd, Sterling Ave, Palatine.

Westbound Northwest Highway in Palatine was closed after roadway pavement buckling that occurred Thursday afternoon.

Eastbound traffic on Northwest Highway was reduced to one lane, and traffic was being detoured north onto Sterling Avenue to Dundee Road.

IDOT is on the scene repairing the road and expects to finish work by the end of the evening, police said.

The Village of Palatine recommended avoiding the area with a different route.

Today’s high was about 88°F (before official declaration) at the NWS observation station at O’Hare International Airport.
