DuPage County Sheriff’s Office Says Male Offender Caught on Camera Is Impersonating Police Officer

The young male offender’s fake badge, has curved edges while a genuine Wheaton patrolman or detective’s badge, has rounded edges (CBS Reporter Suzanne Le Mignot).

A young male/white offender is reported to have impersonated a police detective at several homes in Wheaton, Winfield and unincoporporated West Chicago. At one location in unincorporated West Chicago, the offender claimed to be an investigator with the Winfield Police Department. The offender said he was working on a missing person’s case that was only two hours old.

The suspect is possibly driving or connect to a dark-colored Mazda sedan. He was also using a smartphone with audio that was playing public safety communications.
