The Bartlett Fire Protection District announced May 28, 2019 that the Board of Trustees are proud to announce the appointment of Assistant Fire Chief William Gabrenya to the position of Fire Chief of the Bartlett Fire Protection District effective June 28, 2019. This appointment is to fill the vacancy left by the upcoming retirement of Chief Michael Falese. This action was taken by the Board at their regularly scheduled meeting on May 15, 2019. William Gabrenya has served at both Palatine Fire Department and Bartlett Fire Protection District.

The formal swearing-in for Bartlett Fire Protection District Fire Chief Gabrenya will be at the Board of Trustees meeting on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at 7 PM.

“The Board of Trustees is very proud and excited to have a person of Bill Gabrenya’s caliber as Fire Chief. His years of experience, ability to mentor and lead, along with his exemplary education, make him the best person to replace Fire Chief Falese.”

–– Board President Jim McCarthy

Assistant Chief Gabrenya has an extensive fire service background which began in Bartlett in 1992. He began his full-time career with Palatine as a Firefighter/Paramedic in 1995 and served in the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain and Battalion Chief until he was promoted to Deputy Chief of Operations and Administration from 2012 until 2017.

“I am excited for the opportunity to serve as Fire Chief of the Bartlett Fire Protection District. I started my fire service career with the Bartlett Fire Protection District in June of 1992 as a volunteer firefighter. After being hired by the Village of Palatine Fire Department in 1995, I continued with Bartlett Fire Protection District until 2012. Having called this community home most of my life, I have a strong connection to its history, its culture, and its residents. To be named Fire Chief of the department where it all started for me is a blessing; it’s come full circle.”
