Death investigation for body found in a tent in thick woods on Mitchell Boulevard, Schaumburg.

Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:16 PM Wednesday April 3, 2019 to a report of a man found dead in a tent in a wooded area just south of a warehouse at 1365 Mitchell Boulevard Schaumburg, IL. Police on arrival discovered more than one tent in a secluded area of woods with thick brush. Schaumburg police had firefighter/paramedics stage outside the woods while they checked other tents to make sure there were no threats or additional victims in the other tents.

There was no threat in the area, and the victim was confirmed deceased. There was apparently incorrect information spreading near the scene that the victim was found with a knife in his back. A man said the person or persons that found the victim, saw a knife in the victim’s back, but police said that is not true, and that initially they did not find any signs of foul play associated with the death.

The body was transported away by a white Chevy van about 3:10 p.m., and was likely transported to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office in Chicago.

It was initially unknown if this was a small group of tents that homeless people used, but the tents were barely visible from the edge of the woods
