A Crystal Lake Woman escaped her burning house on Woodstock Street after a neighbor notified her that her house was on fire.
Crystal Lake police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:40 PM Friday April 5, 2019 to a report of a house fire on Woodstock near the intersection of Woodstock Street and Evergreen Parkway Crystal Lake, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived to find flames and smoke showing from the attic of the house. A woman narrowly escaped the fire after a neighbor notified her that her house was on fire.
Firefighters attempted to enter the home, but exited and fought the fire defensively because the entire attic area was on fire.
MABAS Division 5 Box Alarm on Box #5-341 for the house fire was activated about 8:52 p.m.
Firefighters went to a transitional attack, attempting to get water at the fire at the interior without actually entering the house. They attempted to access the fully-involved attic fire through the roof and through a gable end.
A primary search of the home was completed in the first floor, second floor and basement by 9:01 p.m.
A MABAS Box Alarm to the second Level was activated by 9:21 p.m.
The Box Alarm was struck out by 9:58 p.m. after the fire was declared under control.
No injuries were initially reported. Fire, smoke and water damage to the home was estimated to be at least $125,000.
