High 40°F with Light Rain Wednesday, Warmer Thursday in Arlington Heights, Chicago Weather Forecast Northwest

Air temperature started dropping about 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night as the cold front moved in to northern Illinois. Chicago’s O’Hare official National Weather Service observation was 61°F at 7:51 p.m. and 44°F at 9:51 p.m. bringing a wind chill of 35°F with winds North at 24 MPH and gusts to 36 MPH. Wednesday’s high will only reach 40°F late from about 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. with light rain, and maybe snow accumulation in Lake County and McHenry County. There’s a Low Pressure center lurking nearby over Iowa, which might affect arthritis sufferers.

Thursday we’ll see a sharp rise in the air temperature up to a high of 61°F from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thundershowers are possible in the northwest suburbs, but more severe storms may affect southern suburbs.

Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows thundershowers and precipitation moving northwest to southeast in northwest and west-central Illinois. Air temperature in Peoria near the line of storms was 61°F at 9:54 p.m.







 O’HARE FORECAST … 

Tonight: A 10 percent chance of rain after 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. Breezy, with a north northeast wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Wednesday: Rain and snow, becoming all rain after 2pm. Steady temperature around 37. East northeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Wednesday Night: A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly after 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 37. Breezy, with an east wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Thursday: Rain likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 61. Breezy, with an east southeast wind 15 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Thursday Night: Rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Breezy, with a south southeast wind 10 to 20 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
