Alderman Joe Moore said he wants to assemble a task force of water safety experts to help make the lake safer this summer.
Since the drowning of 13-year-old Darihanne Torres, Alerman Joe Moore in Chicago’s 49th Ward has been calling for a renewed focus on lakefront safety.
His suggestions include extended lifeguard hours, more signage and repainting of existing faded signage, enhanced water safety education for people of all ages and better training for public safety officers responding to water safety emergencies.
