President Donald Trump in Agreement with FAA Orders Grounding of Boeing 737 MAX Aircraft

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday March 13 2019 that the US would be issuing an emergency order to ground all Boeing 737 MAX 8 and the 737 MAX 9, and planes associated with that line.

President Trump added that both the FAA and Boeing were “in agreement with the action,” and any planes currently in flight would continue to their destination where they will be grounded.

The order was announced after a crash of an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 Sunday, March 10, 2019. The crash was the second crash after takeoff that killed all aboard. Air safety experts have been aware of a possible issue with the Angle of Attack sensors in the Boeing MAX 8s at least since October 2018 when a Lion Air Boeing 737 MAX 8 crashed in the Java Sea 12 minutes after takeoff on October 29, 2018.

“Pilots have been notified, airlines have been all notified. Airlines are agreeing with this. The safety of the American people and all people is our paramount concern,” the President said.
