Bright Red Cardinal; A Sign Grandma Made It to Heaven

#ad▼

The day after the memorial service for a 97-year-old grandmother that passed away, a bright red cardinal arrived at the kitchen window while family members were inside sitting at their dining room table at a home in Virginia. For years the grandma’s daughter had asked her mom to send a sign when she made it to heaven. They specifically asked for a cardinal to be involved. They went outside and here’s what happened …

Complete report from Lori Wright Storey, the day after her Grandma’s memorial service …

Yesterday, the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced took place at my aunt and uncle’s house in Virginia. (Lily and I were there this past weekend for my grandma’s Celebration of Life service.)

For years my mom has told me that she asked her mom to send her a cardinal when she got to heaven. My aunt also asked her to send them a sign. They knew she would be in heaven but still desired a message from her. I believe this was because the three of them have been so incredibly close.

Lily, my parents, my aunt, my uncle, and I were all sitting around the dining room table yesterday playing Canasta, my grandma’s favorite card game. We heard a loud thud against the kitchen window. My aunt and uncle went out to investigate. My aunt came back in and said they didn’t see anything. A couple minutes later my uncle came in carrying a cardinal in his hands! He had hit the window and was sitting on the ground.

Needless to say, we were all in complete awe. We all knew this had to be a sign from heaven above letting us know that my grandma was there, safe and happy. We had the cardinal inside for several minutes, all of us petting it. My mom and my aunt were both holding the cardinal. It was an incredibly emotional moment.

After a few minutes we took the cardinal outside so he could fly away. My aunt was holding it, trying to encourage it to fly but it kept holding on to her. My aunt placed the cardinal on my mom’s shoulder. It sat there for a minute and then hopped down and sat right on her heart. For about eight minutes, they stood there holding the bird and the bird was holding onto them.

They put the cardinal up on the branch. He sat there for a minute or so and then flew off. I cannot even begin to describe the way we felt. I know I will never experience anything like this ever again in my entire life. I was in the presence of a miracle.

Just a few hours earlier, my mom and I had been talking about the cardinal sign she requested from her mother. She told me that she asked God to make it happen in such a way that she would have never thought of. In her mind, she would have seen a cardinal in California because we do not get cardinals where we live. The Lord not only answered the prayer of my mom and my aunt but He did it in such a way that there could be no doubt in anyone’s mind that it was a sign from my grandmother to her sweet, caring, beloved daughters.

The video is almost 10 minutes and starts after we went outside. It was very windy and cold but everyone wanted to stay and watch the cardinal fly away. And we did.

Paul says in Ephesians 3, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

The Lord went so far and above the request of two of His precious daughters. He not only sent the sign, He literally put in their hands. Exactly what they asked for but so much more. The Lord’s kindness and goodness, His comfort, His peace, and His glory were surrounding us. There are no words.
