Emerging features like self-driving cars, safer vehicles, and application integration are all automotive technology trends to be excited for this year.
There are plenty of emerging automotive technology trends to be excited for in 2019. Self-driving cars, safer vehicles, and application integration are all automotive technology trends to keep your eye on this year.
Autonomous driving is currently the most buzzworthy term in the automotive world. The prospect of a self-driving car might still be scary, but it’s becoming more and more real as cars with this ability begin to hit the road. Google’s Waymo is a self-driving service currently active in the Phoenix suburbs, along with companies like Uber and Lyft who have also joined the self-driving transportation race. This trend will inch its way closer to reality in 2019 as the self-drive testing continues to expand.
The auto industry will never stop working to improve car safety. We can expect to see new steering and braking technology, blind spot detection, smart cruise control, lane assistance, and 360° cameras in 2019. A few brands have already released new vehicles that they say will ensure driver protection. We recommend checking out the 2019 Audi A8, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS four-door coupe, and the 2019 Kia Sorrento to see some of this new automotive technology in action.
As time goes on, it will become more and more common to access your phone’s interface through a digital screen on your car’s dashboard. Along with stereo, navigation, and climate control displayed on screens, many of the new cars to hit the market will also have factors such as Wi-Fi and social media access.
Vehicle controllers such as Apple’s CarPlay and Android’s Auto will present a much easier and familiar interface to use in your vehicle. On top of this, we’re likely to see more car apps come into existence as well as wireless charging and digital gauges. Smartphone integration will only continue to get better from here on out.
