Lindenhurst police and Lake Villa firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:25 a.m. Sunday November 18, 2018 to a report of a pedestrian hit by a car on Route 45, just south of Sand Lake Road.
Upon arrival of police and paramedics, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity was not initially released by police. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning November 19, 2018 at the Lake County coroner’s office.
Police say a 38-year-old Waukegan man was driving a 2015 Nissan Rogue southbound on Route 45 about 5:25 p.m. Sunday when his compact crossover SUV vehicle hit the female victim just south of Sand Lake Road.
An investigation is ongoing by Lindenhurst police, the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, and the coroner’s office. US 45 is a two-lane rural highway with a Speed Limit of 50 MPH.
Any citizen with information about the crash is urged to contact Lindenhurst police at 847-356-5400.
Route 45 was closed down in the area during an extended accident investigation. Lake County Sheriff announced, “Route 45 will be shut down in both directions between Sand Lake Rd and Deerpath in Lindenhurst for an accident. Please avoid the area and plan alternate routes until advised.”
