Illinois State Police and Des Plaines, Rosemont and Schiller Park firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:20 PM Friday September 14, 2018 to a report of a construction worker hit by a vehicle on NB I-294 near 42.001595, -87.866675 (I-294 NB and Touhy Toll Plaza Des Plaines, Il). Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a construction worker hit by a vehicle on NB I-294 just before the Touhy Toll Plaza.
Initially it was unknown whether this incident involved a vehicle crash which then resulted in a construction worker being hit by a vehicle.
The construction worker suffered life-threatening injuries. The emergency scene with lane blockage is located near the left shoulder of the cash lanes.
Rosemont firefighter/paramedics transported one patient with life threatening injuries to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
