Identity Released for Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with School Bus on Rodenburg Rd Schaumburg

The identity was released Friday for the motorcyclist killed in a motorcycle crash with a school bus near Rodenburg Road and Irving Park Road in Schaumburg Thursday afternoon. The crash victim was Robert Payne, age 19, of the block of 0-99 Pinehurst Circle in Glendale Heights.

Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:37 PM Thursday August 30, 2018 to a report of a motorcycle crash with a school bus near Rodenbug Road and Irving Park Road Schaumburg, Il.

A Schaumburg police officer discovered the crash involving a motorcycle and a school bus on Rodenburg Road near of Irving Park Road just after the crash occurred.

Police immediately called for firefighter/paramedics and shut down the intersection.

Robert Payne had signs of life-threatening injuries immediately on the scene. Payne was transported to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, where he was pronounced dead at 4:28 p.m.

Payne’s identity was not immediately released by Schaumburg police pending notification of family.

No students were on the bus, and the bus driver was the only person on the bus when the crash occurred.

An extended accident investigation was underway Thursday afternoon and evening and roadways near the crash were closed until about 9:30 p.m. An investigation was ongoing Friday.
