SUV crash into BMO Harris Bank Building Arlington Heights — no injuries

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:42 AM Tuesday July 31, 2018 to a report of a crash into the BMO Harris Bank building, 215 East Palatine Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a Ford Explorer crashed into a wall and window at the bank.

UPDATE: A woman in her 40s was driving the SUV while delivering newspapers and apparently hit the accelerator instead of the brake by mistake.

Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived to find a Ford Explorer SUV crashed into the north brick wall of the bank, causing the brick wall to collapse.

A female driver reported what initially appeared to be a minor injury. Firefighter/paramedics assessed her injury and she was not transported to the hospital by paramedics.

The crash caused significant structural damage to the bank building, where part of a brick wall collapsed.

The bank was closed by the Village of Arlington Heights Building Department with a notice “Not Approved or Occupancy” on Tuesday morning. Initially, the Drive Thru remained open Tuesday morning.
