Single Winning Mega Millions Ticket Sold at Ernie’s Liquor in San Jose, California

One winning ticket was sold for the $522 million Mega Millions jackpot with a one-time cash option of $308 million, according to Mega Millions officials.

The winning numbers of 1, 2, 4, 19 and 29, with the Mega Ball number 20 were drawn at 10:00 p.. CDT Tuesday July 24, 2018. The Megaplier number was 3.

The single winning ticket was purchased in Ernie’s Liquors in San Jose, California, lottery officials said.

In addition, eight winning tickets matched the five white balls to win the game’s second prize of $1 million — six were sold in Arizona, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota and two in New Jersey.

Two winning tickets included the optional Megaplier (a $1 purchase available in most states) and are worth $3 million each. They were sold in Massachusetts and Texas.

A Mega Millions ticket cost $2 for one play of five numbers and the Megaplier number. Sales time cut-offs vary by state but are usually one to two hours before the drawing.

The odds of winning a jackpot are about 1 in 258.9 million for Mega Millions and 1 in 292.2 million for Powerball.

Mega Millions is available in 44 states, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The four states where Mega Millions is not available are Alabama, Mississippi, Nevada, and Utah.
