Man Shot Near Washington St and Keller Ave, Waukegan

Waukegan police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:38 p.m. Wednesday May 23,2018 to a report of a shooting at or near an automotive business on Washington Street near Keller Avenue. Police found a man down in the street with a gunshot wound, according to Waukegan Police Department.

A Waukegan police statement reported that patrol officers arrived on the scene about 1:40 p.m. and discovered a male victim, who was described as a Waukegan resident in his 20s.

The gunshot victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police had descriptions of two to four male/black subjects that were possibly at the scene and possibly armed, but were unable to confirm that the men were involved in the shooting. The men fled northbound on McAree Road and then Dunlay Court. Police did not initially confirm whether the men fled in vehicles, or on foot, or both.

Waukegan police are investigating the shooting.
