Des Plaines police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:52 PM Thursday May 10, 2018 to a report of a head-on crash at Rand Road and Northwest Highway Des Plaines, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a head-on crash involving two vehicles. The crash fire/rescue response involved extrication of three people trapped and five people injured (not confirmed by officials).
Engine 61’s crew on arrival, and first on the scene, reported two cars with moderate damage with both vehicles upright.
An extrication response was requested by 6:58 p.m.
Two additional ambulances were requested by 6:58 p.m.
The third patient extricated from the crash was removed from a vehicle by 7:20 p.m.
Possibly up to five patients were transported. At least three patients were transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge — a short distance away.
The intersection was cleared up by about 7:56 p.m.
