Body Found in Drainage Pond Near Wauconda; Apparently No Criminal Cause

Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded about 9:45 a.m. Saturday May 5, 2018 to a report from a resident of a body found floating face down in a shallow drainage pond in the block of 28000 North Garland Road in unincorporated Wauconda.

Lake County Sheriff’s deputies located an unidentified male that appeared to be between 50 to 60 years-old. The body, in water about one foot deep, was clothed only in a pair of shorts.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation that is not initially believed to involve a crime.

An autopsy is scheduled to attempt to determine the cause of death.

The shallow drainage pond where the body was found is located just north of Wauconda’s Cook Memorial Park and the Wauconda Park District, which are located at the southeast corner of Main Street (Old Rand Road) and Garland Road.
